چکیده

The role of microglia in neurodegenerative diseases has been controversial. In this issue, Keren-Shaul et al. identify a unique population of disease-associated microglia (DAM) that develop in two steps and may help to restrict damage in Alzheimer and related diseases.

Triggering Receptor Expressed on Myeloid Cells (TREM)-2 Impairs Host Defense in Experimental Melioidosis

BACKGROUND Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells (TREM) -1 and TREM-2 are key regulators of the inflammatory response that are involved in the clearance of invading pathogens. Melioidosis, caused by the "Tier 1" biothreat agent Burkholderia pseudomallei, is a common form of community-acquired sepsis in Southeast-Asia. TREM-1 has been suggested as a biomarker for sepsis and melioidosis....

TREM-2 Receptor Expression Increases with 25(OH)D Vitamin Serum Levels in Patients with Pulmonary Sarcoidosis

TREM-1 and TREM-2 molecules are members of the TREM transmembrane glycoproteins. In our previous study we identified increased expressions of TREM-1 and TREM-2 receptors in pulmonary sarcoidosis (PS). Only a few studies concerning the association between vitamin D and TREM receptor expression can be found. The aim of our current study was to determine the association between the levels of an in...

TREM-2 negatively regulates LPS-mediated inflammatory response in rat bone marrow-derived MSCs

To the best of our knowledge, our previous study demonstrated the expression of triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM‑2) in human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) for the first time. However, the inflammation regulatory role of TREM‑2 in MSCs remain elusive. The aim of the present study was to investigate the immune regulation and the underlying mechanism of TREM‑2 in ...

TREM-2 serves as a negative immune regulator through Syk pathway in an IL-10 dependent manner in lung cancer

During infection, triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-2 (TREM-2) restrains dendritic cells (DCs) and macrophages (MΦs) phagocytosis, as well as reduces pro-inflammatory cytokines release through DNAX-activation protein 12 (DAP12) signaling. However, the role of TREM-2 signaling in cancer has never been elucidated. In the current study, we found that TREM-2 was up-regulated on periphe...

Increased expression of Triggering Receptor Expressed on Myeloid Cells-1 in the population with Obesity and Insulin Resistance

OBJECTIVE Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells (TREM)-1 has recently been recognized as one of the potent amplifiers of acute and chronic inflammation. However, the exact role of TREM-1 in regard to insulin insensitivity is unknown. METHODS mRNA transcripts and protein expression of TREM-1, TREM-2, and TREM-1/TREM-2 ratio were examined in the tissue biopsies (liver, omentum, and sub...
